Energy Savings
Under the Kyoto Protocol, by 2008-2012 the UK must reduce its baseline emissions of six major greenhouse gases by 12.5% from a baseline target set in 1990. the UK government has also set a target to reduce carbond dioxide emissions to 20% beneath that baseline. The long term goal is to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions by 60% by 2050.
Heat Recovery
Did you know that you could recover heat from industrial processes?
Heat recovery captures waste heat energy and reuses it by returning it to systems or processes. This can include heating space and water.
The cost benefits of a heat recovery system depend largely on the type and scale of the installation, but heat recovery can give substantial long-term energy savings. It often reduces the need to generate heat in the first place, making further energy and cost savings.
There are several options for recovering heat and waste heat can have many uses depending on the requirements and the grade. Plate heat exchangers are particularly efficient compared to other types of heat exchanger due to the close temperature approaches (1ºC) that Plate Heat Exchangers can achieve.
There are a number of items of plant common to many sites which all have the potential for waste heat recovery.
Custom designed to maximise heat recovery from a water cooling system, heat recovery systems form part of the extensive portfolio of packages available from Stadco Cooling.
A major source of untapped waste heat in many situations is the water from an industrial cooling system. These systems frequently contain low grade, but usable heat, from an industrial process of sometimes high grade heat in cooling water.
